Contextual Research

UX Contextual Research

This is directly observing users at work in the field. It involves seeing and understanding how they currently use a product.

Contextual research is good for user requirements gathering. It uncovers workarounds, hacks and misunderstandings.

Observe and ask questions. Take notes, photos and sound/video recordings if needed. Try not to nudge the user – let them work naturally. It is best to work in pairs.
